Social responsibility is more than a tick-box!

Social responsibility is much more than a tick-box in our corporate make-up. It’s fundamental to our business. For us, a focus on sustainable development and understanding society’s needs is key to success and prosperity.

That’s why we support many social and health projects with sponsorship that goes further than funding. We become partners, providing finance, organisational help, and often, the enthusiastic involvement of Mann Made Group employees and their families.

Although our business is now global, we remain headquartered here, in the Isle of Mann where we started. So supporting a local event like the annual ‘Race to the Sun’ in aid of The Children’s Centre Charity, is an opportunity for us to play our part in making lives better and say ‘Thank You’ to the Manx community which has done so much for us.

 

RACE THE SUN 2016

255 RUNNERS AND VOLUNTEERS HELP MANX CHILDREN, YOUNGSTERS AND FAMILIES TO WIN THROUGH.

This year’s Race the Sun raised more than £14,000 for the Children’s Centre, the leading Manx charity working to address different recognised needs of over 1,000 young individuals and families.

This year 24 teams of up to ten runners, supported by 15 voluntary helpers, competed in 10-mile legs over the grueling 100-mile route starting and finishing in Peel.

Sam Tipper from Team Get him to the Creek who came 13th described the challenge – and the result as “Both humongous!” He went on to say “It was our first year of taking part in the event, we put a lot of preparation and training in beforehand, but I don’t think any of us thought we’d manage to finish in the time that we did – or that it would be anything like as tough. At the finish-line, the sense of achievement was huge!”

Play, learning, parenting and residential support are all embraced by the 15 services run by the charity island-wide, with operational costs in excess of £3,000 every day.

The Children’s Centre Mark Eastham, says “What we do makes a real world difference to lives in the local community. It’s support like this, from competitors, volunteer helpers and sponsors, that allows us to do it.”
